IACUC Tip of the Month
With AAALAC coming to the Marquam Hill and South Waterfront Campuses for its triennial site visit June 29 – July 1, the IACUC would like to remind animal users of these recent changes to its policies. Please review the policies that are applicable to your work to ensure they are being followed (IACUC policy manual).
The IACUC re-reviews all existing Policies and Standard Procedures on a triennial basis
During its most recent meetings the IACUC approved updates to the following Policies and Standard Procedures (linked in the eIACUC protocol form):
Policies
- Reorganization to remove redundant language
- Links to DCM SOPs added in references
- Procedure VII better aligns with Tumor Burden policy
- Figures of grimace scales incorporated for applicable species
- Discussion of species-specific indicators of pain included in Procedure VIII C
- Clarification of weight loss parameters in Procedure VIII D
Standard Procedures (all NHP) – 3yr updates
- Orogastric Gavage
- Mucosal Swabs and Saliva Collection
- Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
